How many AP classes does a "typical, academically advanced" student take in MCPS?

I too am interested in this question of whether selective colleges care if you take the AP class (because it is the most rigorous class available and so you are challenging yourself and also putting yourself with a group of like-minded peers) but don't take the AP test (because you don't care about getting college credit and want less stress in your life). Certainly that could be a strategy for senior year AP classes, since the kid will already be accepted into college by May, so the college will see the AP class on the transcript but can't think less of the kid for not taking the AP test.

Can other people chime in regarding what information the college knows during the admissions period regarding your score on an AP test and how they know it or value it?
