Using a Jumping venue as your child care provider

Middle and high school kids can spend a few hours hanging around with friends without it being neglect. Actually, that just seems normal to me. And a jump place like that is better than hanging around someone's house being bored. Kids that age don't need "childcare".

This is not high school. This age is elementary and early middle school. I think it's wrong to leave elementary aged kids at public places and expect child care. A life guard is there to make sure everyone is safe in the water, nothing else. And you'll notice many of them are teenagers.

Age 10-15? Okay, I'll give you that 10 is elementary school 5th grade, and to me that would be iffy... probably only allowed if a sibling was there. But 11-15 is middle school and early high school. By that age they were going around public places on their own with their friends, and I did not expect anyone else to provide any sort of care for them. That's kind of what I was trying to express in the post you quoted, that the kids don't need child care and can handle themselves for a few hours.

Lady, stop. There is no "childcare" being provided here.

Typical condescending DCUM. God, I hate posters like you.

All the posts in this thread and this is the one that is too "condescending" for you? God I hate you people.

But the parents do not expect child care. They expect their tween/teen to have a fun time jumping with their friends. Kids that age go to the mall alone, the movies, amusement parks, swimming pools, rec centers and gyms. If they act up at any of those placed, they'll get thrown out. And if "free child care" was the expectation or a problem, I guarantee you the establishment would have set minimum ages for unaccompanied kids and enforce it.

I don't think it is a big deal. I used to hang out at the mall. I doubt they are actually there for 12 hours.

It is one step above sitting at home glued to the screen but still.

It's true. I long for the 1980s when we spent afternoons at the museum, critiquing the pre raphaelite oils or in the woodshop, building homeless shelters....

Get real. We were at the mall eating crap. At least these kids get some exercise.

I did sports after school so didn't have much time to hang out - HW and dinner and then reading/watching TV. Did stuff with family on weekends, plus occasional outings with friends.

Stop feeding the troll... seriously, 10-12 boys everyday because those 10-12 boys ALL have parents that work the night shift?

I was glued to Keystone Kapers or Ms Pacman at the mall arcade

It's an imperfect solution, sure. If the kids are getting in your or your kids way and being disruptive, you need to complain to management. Otherwise, worry about yourself.

Well you are wrong on the first part. My DS is in middle school and attends the after school care program there.

Good God, you make your middle schooler go to aftercare?? LOL
