Also interesting that the white kids' scores at Herndon are higher (by a little) than the white kids at Lake Braddock and essentially the same as white kids at West Springfield.

How often do we see threads saying "avoid Herndon" and "avoid South Lakes" --- but never see threads saying "avoid Madison" or "avoid Lake Braddock and West Sprngfld."

Did you know that the white kids at Stuart(!!) have a slightly higher average than those at Centreville and Fairfax.

Frankly, I think the listing showing the whole school's composite average are ridiculous. And when you start looking at the sub-groups, you really see the effect of HHI --even within subgroups.

Housing dictates school scores. If the price-point of the housing in a school zone doesn't change... the scores aren't likely to change. HHI influences the housing that one can afford, which influences the wealth and resources of the student body, which influences overall academic achievement ... which influences composite SAT scores for schools.

Stay classy, PP.

PP here -- I just meant that Stuart is SO maligned on these boards and I had never really looked at its stats. I was surprised given how I have never heard even one good word about it on DCUM. Herndon, SL, Hayfield, Edison -- you hear some positives now and then. Stuart -- never. Just goes to show that DCUM speaks more in generalities than specifics.

Almost as good as lording it over other middle class families that made different (obviously inferior) housing choices.
I mean... you couldn't afford to buy in 22207? LOSER!!!! Hahahahahahahhaha!!!! It's not enough that I spent a fortune to live amongst exclusively wealthy ( mostly white) people. I have to actively try to make things bad for others. I think all poor kids should be shipped to Wakefield. F@€# those poors! It's not enough that I succeed, I want everyone else to fail.

The OP is the one worthy of this eye roll emoji, but I am going to refrain from using one because I just feel bad for OP. It must be terrible to go through life being so insecure.

True. Next time I will try to refrain as well. Try.

Not OP, but, wow, pointing out the low scores at some schools really seemed to get under some people's skins here. Is this fury all real estate-related?

If people didn't care about test scores, there would be no lists of SAT scores, no Great Schools, no US News ratings, etc.

Obviously they do.

I think its one thing to be competitive in that you want to root for your team and your child to have a comparatively good education. It's another to "laugh at" other schools.

Exactly. It's called sportsmanship. You root FOR your team, not AGAINST your opponent. You must be new money to be so invested in punching down.

Posting the objective data as OP did doesn't "root against" any team/school.

No, but "laughing at" does. Personally I'm not arguing against comparison in general, just shcaudenfraude

Exactly. The "laugh at" poster was not raised very well.
