There are plenty of working moms in No. Arlington. I'm a working mom (and a MONA member) who lives in N. Arlington. People regularly post questions about nanny shares on the MONA listserv. You might want to try that.

Au pair. That's something you should look into OP. It sounds like nanny share and daycare aren't going to work for you. Au pair would be cheaper than your $4k per month nanny.

Adding another body in the house doesn't work for a lot of people, no matter what the cost is.

Um, we would love an au pair but couldn't afford a 4th bedroom (family of 5 here)... And au pair need their own bedroom and I think own bathroom?

The nanny might have been cheaper bc it was a shorter duration than mortgage on a bigger house.
