But that's not considered a mental illness in this century. However, stealing clothes even though she has tons of money does indicate some mental problems.

I don't think that homosexuality is a mental illness, but it's pretty well known in the industry that John Travolta is closeted.

I definitely do not believe that homosexuality (which occurs throughout the animal kingdom) is a kind of mental illness.

I'm also not sure that Travolta has some kind of mental illness. He is definitely, definitely closeted though. Maybe some kind of narcissism? He is obsessed with his image so much, and upholding that image, that he hides his true self?

good point. Although, he came on the scene (early 70s) at a time when no actor could be both openly gay and commercially successful. So he had to pick, and he picked commercially successful straight leading man. (Grease, etc.).

Most men did the same, at that time. Fast forward ... reversing course now is certainly possible in the current climate, but still almost unheard of for a star with his catalogue of work and bank account.
