No. Some do, some don't.

I think "W" schools are more similar to Langley than TJ looking at all of the lists.

The W schools are more similar to Langley than TJ, but they'll have slightly better looking lists because the MoCo magnet programs (Blair for STEM and RM for IB) have fewer slots than TJ.

Actually they should have slightly worse looking lists, because MD's in-state options are not on par with VA's (meaning student who gets into UVa/W&M from VA and comparable MD student will "only" have UMD).

Really?

NP - yes, really. It doesn't look that different at all.

Post the acceptances of the "W" school. BS otherwise.

None of this is official and you probably won't believe me, but (about) 4 kids are going to Princeton, 3 to Stanford, 1 to Yale, 6 to Cornell, 5 to Duke, 2 to Brown, 1 to Caltech, 1 to Columbia, 4 to UChicago, 8 to Vandy, 4 to Wash U, 4 to Penn, 5 to Berkeley, 5 to Hopkins...

I expected way better from TJ considering they're a magnet school and have a bigger class. I have no idea where his classmates got in, just where they're going.

You are right -- its not believable, because it is not true. There are stats available for the W schools also. Looks nothing like that. More likely one kid accepted to several ivies, you counted each separately, but dream on.

Last year there were also 1 or 2 to USMA (West Point).

And the US naval Academy in Annapolis

So after looking at the list, is TJ better or worse for a student's college prospects? The interesting question is and has been that an average TJ student would probably be in top 5% at the base school and probably do better in terms of college acceptances. I think average TJ student is virtually guaranteed acceptances to UVA/W&M but I am not sure if top 5% graduate from NVa base school is virtually guaranteed to same school.

You certainly get better education from generally better teachers and have use of better equipment and labs at TJ. I think there are better research and internship opportunities for TJ students than base school students in general as well. This is aside from the college acceptances.

Note that 1 Columbia and 1 Berkley were two of the top 3 swim recruits this year from this region.....(not to diminish their scholastics but it is worth nothing)

The Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy were already included in the paragraph above, but West Point was not. I believe there was also at least one or two that went to the Coast Guard Academy.

Nice to see these smart kids making the choice to serve their country.

Here's last years college bound list and some compared acceptances, btw http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Magazine/September-October-2014/College-Bound/

College BCC Whitman WJ Wootton Churchill
Brown 2 1 3 1 1
Caltech 0 3 0 1 1
Columbia 1 2 1 1 5
Cornell 1 20 5 9 N/A
Dartmouth 1 4 1 1 5
Duke 1 3 1 2 8
Georgetown 3 4 4 8 6
Harvard 1 4 2 0 N/A
MIT 0 1 1 1 0
Northwestern 3 13 0 4 2
Princeton 0 0 2 3 3
Stanford 0 5 1 0 1
UChicago 1 6 0 2 2
UPenn 2 5 1 1 3
Yale 0 4 0 1 2

Comparing that to TJ's acceptances last year looks exactly how anyone would expect.
