And totally screws over everyone else. It should be in a more central location. |
Get a grip. Most of the top schools are in an inconvenient location. Walter Reed is at least a straight shot up 16th street. and very accessible by multiple bus routes. |
You get a grip. There is horrible traffic on 16th st and it is unfair to screw over most people for a location which is more convenient to Maryland residency cheaters than the bulk of the district. |
NP here. I think the get a grip was impolite but referring to the fact that it is really hard for charters to secure land and facilities especially for a large middle/ high school as DCI is expected to be. It could be in a better location. It could be worse. In the central city you often don't have any outdoor space, like BASIS.
I would love Shaw for example but I think we will be able to deal with Walter Reed (walking from red line)? |
It will be a longish walk (20 minutes from Takoma) but there are Metrobuses that go from Takoma to different Walter Reed campus entrances. |
I would add Columbia Heights to this. A straight shot up 16th on the S9 (FREE to students) against traffic. Way easier than any cross-town commute to Ward 5 or even Shaw. |
Horrible? You're going against traffic. Have you every tried riding a cross-town bus during rush hour? |
Where can we see find list? |
I wish DC would just turn over Shaw middle school that has been surrounded by chain link and barbed wire for years. Ridiculous. As it is, we would not consider DCI at Walter Reed due to location. |
Shaw Middle school is a prime piece of real estate that will in all likelihood end up as high end condos for some lucky developer. |
Holy hell. ![]() |
Much better a Holy hell than a hellish hole. |
This is the list as of 8/14. Don't know if there is an updated one. http://dme.dc.gov/node/887202 |
The only doable space I see on this list is Marshall, unless DCI wants to move to SE. |
But there's no RFO (request for ...organizations?) so I guess they're not giving it up? |
