The great soup recipe thread of 2014!

I made this tonight. Mine never got thick so it was more of a soup vs a chowder. I doubled the recipe and used vegetable broth and morningstar vegetarian bacon. Oh and I probalby used double the amount of cheese that the recipe called for. It was delicious! Not sure why mine didn't thicken but I still plan to make this a regular.

Do kids generally like this? I'm thinking of making this today. Also, I have a bunch of mushroom stock, think it would be OK to sub the chicken stock form mushroom stock?

My 3 and 1 year old like it. They're not too picky though. I do make it vegetarian so the mushroom stock sounds delicious.

I made this black bean soup last night and it was really good: https://www.budgetbytes.com/2014/07/slow-cooker-black-bean-soup/

Added a healthy dollop of sour cream and it was so good I kept thinking about it for hours after dinner. And I happily had the leftover soup for lunch today (I'm usually pretty meh about leftovers).

My husband really likes this soup and requests it often.

If you don't have time to make the mozzarella balls you can always use frozen mozzarella sticks.

I walked into safeway today and saw a Halloween display and I was instantly in the mood for fall weather and soup. They had black beans on sale so I bought a bunch and I'm making this today.

Where do you get your veg meatballs, or do you make them?
