Bumping this post for you. Hope you find your cat.

Not the OP and I haven't seen a cat like this, but where do you live? Post your neighborhood on here-- maybe someone has seen it, or will keep an eye out.

Pick-up truck.

how will the cat stay in the back of the pick up truck? You will have to physically touch it and get close even to put it in the truck

How about you buy a gun and shoot it and tell police it was self defence.?

thanks, PP. We were living in Potomac but have moved closer in again. Miss our cat very much. She wouldn't wear a color without freaking out but if we're lucky enough to find her, she'll have to get used to it.

I'm the OP, I'm not going to trap the cat, I'm going to step up my use of the hose. I'm not sure why my yard is his yard of choice. Maybe he will find other yards where he is more welcome.

Instead of bombarding OP with snide remarks and opposition to the shelter, you should volunteer to come adopt the cat. I see lots of yapping about what OP should do for the car, but no one offering to step up and help. Hypocrites.

Excellent! I'm relieved, I must admit!

The cat already has a family. No one needs to adopt the cat.

You don't even have to use a hose, OP. Just bang around, clap your hands, stomp your feet, yell. Make a lot of noise. The cat will be terrified and sprint away.

We occasionally have some neighborhood cat who likes to hang out either in our backyard and/or our deck, and all I have to do is rap on the window, or open the door to the deck, and the cat flees.

Seriously, even if I *wanted* the cat to stay (and I am a cat person! We have 3 indoor cats!), these outdoor cats don't know me and I could be a danger to them, and they are outta there!

HINT: cats like people who leave them alone and let them do their own thing, so, ironically, if you are not a cat person, you prob tend to avoid cats, and this makes them happy and makes them way to come around you! Try walking towards them, or just bang and make loud noises. They'll be outta there.

I am an animal lover so this is going to be a very very biased response I am afraid.

Please do not take it to the county animal shelter. If you do so, there is a high chance it will be put down and euthanized.

Can you put an ad on Craigslist and mention your situation first? Let people know there is a cat on your porch/yard and that you do not wish for it to be there and see if anyone is interested in having him/her?

Perhaps post a photo and see what types of responses you get?

Or can you contact a rescue organization and see if they can take it??

Please do not leave it at the pound where it where head directly to death row.

Thank you.

Jesus - she already said she wasn't trapping it. Give it a rest.

This thread has moved on.

Now we are debating whether the hose is inhumane and maybe just banging pots and pans will work because, you know, we wouldn't want to inconvenience the stray cat by hitting him with the hose.

Cat people are the best.

Nobody is telling her not to use the hose.
Some days my love of animals is the only thing that connects me to my humanity and empathy.
Why would you have a problem with that?

I'm sorry your cat nearly died however if she was inside it wouldn't have happened. Complain all you want about cats being outdoor animals and not trainable on leashes. So, create a safe cat run in your yard complete with a roof so it can't just climb out. People do it for dogs all the time because, as you may have guessed, they don't like being inside all day either and some of them hate leashes too.
