Ridiculous interns

I would have laughed in his face. Whoever raise these special snowflakes are terrible people.

Could he have done the work equally well at home? Not sure of the actual harm in letting him do the work at home.

Wow, I was really hoping this was "funny things my interns do" but it turned into contract and labor law for dummies. Boo.

I teach college and get similar requests all the time. My favorite is a student asking to leave class an hour early because her car was in the shop and she had to take the metro and doesn't like to do that at night. This was clearly a case of entitlement and not fear. Or an outright lie to go somewhere else.

Why are you so sure she wasn't fearful of taking the metro alone at night?

Who gives a rat's ass if she was "fearful"? She could have taken a cab.

Honestly, are you picturing your toddlers when you write this crap? These are ADULTS we're talking about.

Millenials!

One day one of you mean bitches is going to end up in the hospital and will be treated by millenial doctors. Hope they are nicer to you than you were to them.

I love the whole " mean bitch" thing that's come up in the past few posts. I'm sure that one or more of the posters responsible for this thread's nasty turn is a man, and a very douchy one at that. Are you a man? Then I guess that makes it at least two men contributing to the unpleasant tone of the thread.

No, I'm not a man. I just don't get why some women are so mean. So what? The kid asked a dumb question. People want to stone him for it.

These are adults with ZERO money. I remember being a broke 20-something and taking a cab and buying an extra umbrella was never an option. It was just not in the budget to ever solve problems with money. Mostly I suffered. I wish I had lived it up more like other interns or acted more entitled. Or even a tiny bit entitled.

+1. The kid asked for a concession and offered to work at home. Maybe my "entitlement" is coming out because I'm only in my late 20s, but my job is flexible and something like this would be pretty acceptable to ask (thank you government). Make it a teaching lesson if you want, but I'm not understanding OP's outrage here.

I'm not OP, and I didn't think she sounded "outraged," but to ask to go home early because you don't have an umbrella and it might rain is ridiculous. Period.

Sweetie, it isn't acceptable. They've just given up on you.

Thanks for the condescension, but here's my thinking. OP doesn't know his circumstances and at least he was honest. He could have just as easily made up a bs emergency reason to leave. Last night's storm was kind of scary and a couple of people in Arlington were struck by lightening.

I bet you're one of those who wouldn't think twice about leaving early for a kid-related reason but no one else's problems are so worthy.
