It's middle school. How much time do you think the kids are going to spend on any field, turf OR grass?

Well, I can't say about your kid, but mine hangs out with his friends after school and kicks a ball around. He plays on teams. He goes to gym class.

I'd rather not encourage a kid to hang out at the 7-11.

+1. Rather have a kid playing on a field than wasting money on FroYo or Starbucks.

In most places, PE is compulsory in middle school and there are after school intramurals.

I live in Clarendon and my boys live to play on W-L's field and the new Rocky Run turf field---soccer, lacrosse, football.

They have travel soccer practice at LongBridge---yep all turf.

We attend ASF and they aren't even allowed in the grass for most of the year because it's kept under a tarp.

I see a new turf field a fine option at Wilson. All HS sports are turf these days.

Fwiw--the turf field is ground level. The basketball courts are in the roof. No problem with either. We used to belong to a rooftop pool .
