If you are religious, do you believe in any version of evolution?

Jew here. I think evolution is amazing. Truly and completely amazing. Not sure why we want to limit God with the literal story (which appears twice, so I am not sure exactly how creationists rationalize the detail), since evolution suggests a more sophisticated god with a keener eye for beauty.

I liked that post from the Mormon. Well said.

Where does the Christian God fit with evolution?
I'm not a believer, but I see no contradiction in the God that could create the universe being able to program the life in that universe to evolve.
But the CHRISTIAN God who didn't come along until 1AD?

When you say "God", that means to me the One Creator -- the one Jews believe in, Christians believe in, Muslims believe in, and atheists like me do not believe in. Semantically, I think that is the generally understood meaning of the term. Christianity is a way of worshipping that God, not the creator of a new God.

BTW, I don't mean to imply that I am limited to not believing in the One God. I also don't believe in the other gods that people have created through the ages, although I was always partial to the Greek gods, who seemed to have such a good time interfering in our human endeavors.

PP, can you elaborate on this? I mean no snark, and am genuinely curious about how people authenticate which versions of god are more "right" or "true" to them. Why is the Abrahamic god more authentic to you than say, Hindu, Shinto, Mayan, Ancient Egyptian, or Greek gods?

It's not, or at least not at the rational level. I was trying to say, in perhaps too joky a way, that I am an equal non-believer in all gods. The "G" in God is, for me, part of the name for the god aka Jehovah, Allah, and perhaps Jesus. I say perhaps because I do not claim to understand the 3 in 1 concept.

Thank you or not being snarky. I also try, but I'm a joker at heart and my innocently intended humor may step over the line now and then.
