Big law is still a reliably good salary for very hard work and long hours. That is more than you can say for most jobs and professions.

What is remarkable, and has to change, is how musch money big clients pay big law firms. It's crazy, especially when the client can hire smaller, boutique, law firms much less for sometimes better work. I don't get it.

Perhaps yes, perhaps no. As "the client" I have seen some penny wise, pound foolish decisions because we have taken this route.
