Serious Cleveland Park Theft

And.. yes, it is baiting, since it appears to have been set up specifically so the homeowner could videotape it. She KNEW it was going to get stolen. Yeah. Not "scary." He didn't break into her home, and I'm having a really hard time making the leap from stealing a controversial banner a few times to "stalking."

THIS IS NOT STEELERS COUNTRY! STOP PUTTING UP YOUR BANNER!

Yes, it is wrong they stole it. No, this is not a serious crime. In some countries you could get killed for putting up a rival teams colors. Keep your love of an out of town team to your body and your car and we don't have to hear from you again. Thank you. Rant over. Stupid lady.

So anything short of murder isn't scary? That's ridiculous.

Pretending that this incident is "Really scary stuff going on in our 'hood" is what's ridiculous and so is the hand wringing about how her "home is not safe."

That point of the other poster was merely that actual scary things go on in this city and actual homes that are not safe. Trying to pin this incident as harassment and terror in light of real problems is just stoopid.

Quite clearly, her home is Steelers Country, so she is perfectly justified in declaring so. WHO CARES WHAT TEAM ANOTHER PERSON ROOTS FOR? Why is it different to declare it on a car parked at a home vs. the home itself? I don't get it. To each his own! Would you really want something stolen repeatedly from your property? We should expect people to be law abiding and her neighbors to support the discouragemnt of crime. OMG people!

I wish she shot him.

OK people. First off: Sports and sports crimes fall outside of the norm of society. Don't be all, "I understand the law because I used to be a lawyer and had these 8 kids." Sports is different.

That said, if you have the balls to put up a banner in enemy territory you should expect that some other fan will rip it down. It is just that simple. Any other response here is by people that obviously are not part of the real world.

Also, lady, you are crazy. Crazy.

Doesn't it strike you that the banner remover has a pretty entitled attitude? I guess he thinks the world revolves around him and he can just go around taking other people's property if he doesn't happen to be a fan of their team? Don't women get routinely villified on DCUM for being entitled? But here everyone attacks the (female) homeowner. It may not be a major crime but I sure would be more annoyed about this than if someone took my seat at Starbucks.

I would never put up a banner from an out of town (hated) team. Ever. But, if for some reason I did and they stole it once maybe I woud go out and buy another and go through the trouble of putting a second up but certainly I would have gotten the hint that "they hate this team" after the second time. Tip for you: Do not put up another team banner if you move to Green Bay. Just don't. Nobody will have your back. No one.

You live in Cleveland Park- you can afford a new banner.

No, not really. I would have a much bigger problem with this if it involved anything other than a sports banner. We are all entitled to hang what we want but you have to be daft (and also have a pretty attitude IMHO) to not know you are inviting trouble. Please write back when the crime doesn't involve sports. I will be on your side then. I promise you.

HEY! That is not funny! We need a Starbucks! Don't be a jerk!

Does anybody else think if she just wrote: "My Steelers banner was stolen again. Anybody know the folks in the video? Thanks," we would have had more sympathy/understanding? I think the length and tone put people against her to some degree.

Oh I get it, crime is okay when it comes to "defending" your sports preferences!!! That makes sense.

Which, by the way, we have no idea of the motivation of the perp. Who the heck knows, it could be a spurned match.com date for all we know. The assumptions of the people in this thread are over the top.

Let me just say, if I could have, (and if I weren't the law abiding type) I would have ripped down every Cub banner I saw south of Madison.
