Yeah right, "my eternal life is in jeopardy because I voted for a Democrat". If you are the type of person who would think that, you already think that.

There is little Obama or the democratic party could do in the near future that would cause an exodus of the black vote to the republican or independent parties. Wishful thinking

the issue is not whether they vote Romney, the issue is whether they stay home on election day

Black people aren't going to stay home for the first Black president in our history. Don't kid yourself.

they may not stay home but they may show less support in terms of contributions and going out of their way to garner support for obama.

this issue will be hot for 1-2 months and we'll have moved on back to the economy hopefully which is the real issue we need to be discussing

Abd gay marriage has no impact on that foundation. No matter how many gay marriages there are, there will still be hetero marriges reproducing and raising children.

I read that a bare majority in polls now seem to favor it. I live in DC. Had gay marriage been properly put to referendum I would have voted in favor of it. But I don't think that a handful of DC council members should have shoved gay marriage down the throats (no pun intended) of DC residents.

And I still think it is not only wrong, but unconstitutional for the majority to vote by referendum on the rights of minority groups. One of the purposes of government is to ensure that all rights are available for all citizens. Allowing this to come to a popularity referendum is segregationist. Rights should be fundamental and not only granted at the whim of the majority. It's surprising how often the majority wants rights for themselves but not for others.

some people think its wrong for the same sex to attempt to be with each either because they do not produce offspring in the accords of nature

My wife and I can't have children without IVF. I take it that you . . . er, "some people" think we should not be permitted to marry, or even "attempt to be with each other?"

Someone needs to ask Rush Limbaugh's second, third, and fourth wives how allowing gays to marry hurts the institution.

What you call constitutional rights, others would call a radical change in legal norms and social policy (which actually it is, even if one favors it). (The use of "segregationist" is incorrect, by the way

Is there a fundamental right to polygamous marriage? What about marriage to a minor? Why would homosexual marriage be a fundamental right and not these? Who decides what is a fundamental right? You?
Slippery slope, straw man, appeal to tradition, red herring - wow, are you trying to combine all of the logical fallacies in one argument? (Credit for avoiding ad hominem, however.)

Yeah, I think all of the the "I'm not voting for a Democrat because I don't want to suffer eternal damnation and the fiery tortures of Hell" boxes have already been checked in the abortion debate.

I actually don't see anything wrong with it. Why anyone would WANT 2 wives (other than the obvious) is a mystery, but if that's what you want, go for it. Only issue I see is that special accommodations might need to be made for institutions who charge a "family" rate - health insurance, for example. Or they could just charge a la carte.
