SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS INTERVIEWS TOMORROW...

Anonymous
Hi--just wondering if all the people who've posted that they are NOT accepting their Walls invite have contacted the school to tell them? I know the deadline was yesterday...

While we didn't remotely enjoy the interview process, called to find out my child was wait listed and later interviewed again (it is just as excruciating the second time) I have had nothing but positive impressions both times we've been to the school.
I think that much of the static on this thread is about sour grapes moreso than anything.. Sure the one students writing in could have been more civil, but so could half of the fully grown adult parent posters who have assailed the principal and everything else that is 'supposedly wrong' with the school.
C'mon people be honest. So what if we and our DC were stressed over having to do what was probably our first stringent interview and students had a say...Sooo what.
The school prides itself on innovation and independent thought. And its students practically swept the STEM competition this year which means they are relatively serious and do care about inquiry... why shouldn't they help out.
We finally did get and even if we hadn't I wouldn't be sitting around and complaining because everything wasn't oh so perfect when I know darn well how hard it is to interview well.
And those of you who want Central office to 'do something' about SWWS may want to ask yourselves why you bothered to apply to such an unique and independent minded school in the first place?
This thread has been a sad commentary not on SWWs but on the entitled attitudes of DC parents.

So I am an applicant for Walls and I am actually taking this interview tomorrow, based on the comments I've been reading, it scares me to think that my personality determines my getting into the school or not. My art teacher is alumni there and she said that they ask about the most recent article I read and a summary of the most recent book I've read. I don't think this is based on personality. I'm pretty sure they are seeing if you do the initiative outside of school and know what to say when being given questions that catch you off guard.
