The worst thing she did to me/us was invite my DH's ex-wife to spend the holidays with them at her beach house every year. She was never close to her ex-DIL until DH and I got married. In fact, DH told me that when they were married, ex-wife always felt sad about not having a close relationship with his parents. Anyway, this slap in the face guarantees that neither DH or I will attend the hoidays with the rest of his family. When DH confronted his mother about how this made him feel uncomfrotable and was in the very least inappropriate, her response was "It's my house and I can do whatever I want. I don't care about you and your problems and all of your wives." Yes, I am your son's 2nd wife. We have been together for almost 11 years. But no, I am not part of a harem. We rarely talk to this woman and every few months she reaches out with gifts and other crap and has NO CLUE why we won't visit her or have a relationship with her. She is a passive agressive, very strange lady that I will never understand.

My MIL was babysitting my kids. When I got them I mentioned that the 4 year old had been a bit clingy lately, she said, "well what do you expect, she's insecure".

She insists baby is insecure because I divorced her lying sack of sh*t son.

The Kleenex is a bit gross, but maybe she sincerely thought you might like the purse? Either way, if this is the "worst" thing your MIL has done, you are either very very fortunate, or have extremely unrealistic standards/high maintenance.

No, the worst thing was to not give me the "sign of peace" at our wedding Mass. Just flat out refused.

I had a pug that I brought to my immigrant (now husband) boyfriend's house. His grandmother suggested stew! But I knew she was joking and did not take it personally (also did not leave my pug there alone overnight!).
