Did your mom WOHM? If so, do you?

PP our school had a late bus, so everyone that was in spoets and extra clubs, simply took the late bus home. No need for parents to drivs us all over the place.

My mom WOH and I SAH. I didn't realize until I was a working adult that she had benefited from flexible hours (professor) and could pick us up from school most days and then work after we went to bed.

I didn't expect to SAH, but it's felt right so far. My mom has said repeatedly that she never could have stood being a SAHM! To each her own.

My mom stayed home with me for 18 months, then went back to work.

I worked FT for my daughter's first 2.5 years, then cut back to PT. That was a pretty good balance, although I wouldn't mind working FT again. I would be an absolutely AWFUL SAHM. I cut back because my "career" was going nowhere and I was about to be downsized due to the recession at a nonprofit, not really because it was what I truly wanted. It has worked out OK because now I work for a friend and can work from home quite a bit with VERY flexible hours.

You have to do what works best for your family.

My mom WOHM starting when I was 7 mos. I think she was on a somewhat reduced schedule at first, but quickly went back to FT (although not crazy lawyer or doctor FT). I was in a home daycare, then in preschool after age 3.
Myself, I had DC during grad school (started daycare at 4 mos) and am hoping I can achieve normal FT hours when I graduate soon; my field can be on the crazier side. I cannot see myself SAHM by choice (as opposed to if I couldn't find work or DC had special needs requiring a parent at home), both based on my personality and on DC's. My mom's positive example obviously helps.
