His boss, the owner of the Patriots, was caught having sex with foreign prostitutes a few years ago in a sting. It’d be a bit hypocritical for the owner to suffer zero consequences for that while the coach can’t have an affair with an industry peer.

I’m a woman and have always cared about football. There are millions like me.

+1 I’m another one, what a strange question. Anyone who actually cares about football watches it on television, where you can see how many of the ads are directed toward women now.

There's a sad (but accurate) scene from King of the Hill where Hank explains to his son that males are expected to have sex but females are not. "That's called the double standard, Bobby. Don't knock it. We got the long end of the stick on that one."

And that's what will happen here. His career won't be affected one bit but she won't be trusted as a journalist anymore.

I mean. Good for her? She was able to have fun experiences with hot, athletic men. Honestly it sounds like you're jealous.

Because she’s using sex to advance in her job, and also cheating on her spouse. What does he gain from this? She clearly wants the scoop.

This wouldn't be possible if the men weren't willing to cheat/could keep it in their pants. Once again, why does all responsibility lie on the woman to maintain propriety? Hey jocks, if a female reporter invites you to her hotel room: Just Say No.

The problem is she won’t be taken seriously in her field if she’s sleeping with everyone to get the scoop. So good for her to lose the respect of her colleagues, readers, family and peers? She’s a failure professionally and personally. He is just failing on a personal level.

Sorry, what exactly is there to “take seriously” in the field of sports reporting? It’s inherently trivial. It’s entertainment. i.e who in their right mind gives a $hit if two adults you don’t know are having an affair?

Whatever you say.

An example of the intellect of a person who will no longer “take her seriously”? I’m sure she’ll be devastated to hear…

Well, she technically works for the New York Times. Gray lady has a publisher, investors, editors, a union, and a brand.

The fact that she has a job is not in dispute. But sports reporting is not a “serious” endeavor.

The issue is that he is going for someone that is a different look than his wife so it seems that he is not into blondes which is the most hurtful. If he was going for a better shape version of his wife that's more understandable.

His wife did kind of go downhill with weight but that is fixable.

Oh, you thought she was home preening and putting another notch in her bedpost? I'm so sure.

Why did the NYT suddenly change their tune after initially backing up Russini?

Because it's a conflict of interest, violates codes of conduct, and is unethical? Just a wild guess.

It’s not like they didn’t know that to start with.

But maybe they believed the initial story "group of friends hanging out".

I’d question her capacity to cover the NFL and his team with integrity.

She is the highest paid reporter at the NYT. It is unethical. Her contract runs through August. This was not her first incident. There have been two known previous incidents with head coaches.
