+1 HAd a kid in the midwest in 2019 Polar vortex. The kids survive. Classes were cancelled. Dining was open, and the school even opened "back doors" at the main dining hall so kids could eliminate an extra block of walking around to main door (nice idea when it's -50 out). Now think of the lower income people who work at your kid's school who manage to stay on campus or come in during the cold/snow to ensure the kids are feed/bathrooms cleaned/etc. Appreciate them |
Yeah closing the dining halls is not the right move. They should have some staff stay/student workers help and keep them open. If you are in a dorm, you don't have much room for food/cooking it. |
This! Also, if you are midwest with the extreme cold, know that 5-10 mins outside (even in your winter jacket) can drain your phone's batter to 0---when it's -40 out. |
| There is always some kid who jumps out his 2nd or 3rd floor window & expects the snow to cushion his landing. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it’s not deep enough. Sometimes the snow is covering something like a fire hydrant…. |
