Of note—it wasn’t in the top 5 for all of those years, but it was in 11 of them.

Comparing it to other Patriot League schools makes sense, like Lehigh. Of those schools Lafayette is my favorite. Colgate is nice but isolated. I would 100% send my DC to Lafayette over Lehigh. Placement at all the Patriot league schools is very good, so I would look for best fit in that group of schools. Lafayette just seems like such a nice place and community.

Why Lafayette over Lehigh? Asking from a prospective student perspective

Smaller, different vibe. My kid liked Lafayette and was just meh on Lehigh.

We know 2 who turned it down for Yale-better social culture.

Also know a Yalie who turned down Harvard. Was accepted outright to H, waitlisted at Y, then ultimately accepted to Y and chose it over H.

Just a bit concerned about placement opportunities as DC will be an econ major - would be open to finance/business (haha vague but they are 18!) in NYC but sounds like all those spots go to the ivy kids who are at a different level from a resume perspective and have the further advantage on campus recruiting. Can anyone with experience speak to outcomes in finance or business from Lafayette?

Former CEO of Asset Management at Credit Suisse. Whole lot of Lafayette alums in finance in NYC. Hamilton, Colgate, Trinity, Lehigh, etc.

Do they go straight to work, or on to grad school? Kid might be interested in Econ tho not necessarily Wall Street - interested in business Econ (right now, who knows, but likes Econ generally and stats). Thx if you see this

Colgate and Holy Cross are the most prestigious of the Patrtiot League with better outcomes.

Why don't you just get this info. straight from the horse's mouth.

CollegeScorecard.gov is a joint U.S. Dept of Ed / IRS website, and it reports that, 5 years after graduation, Lafayette College Econ majors have an average income of $106,000. If they received annual raises of 4%, their first year after graduation they earned $87,000. Not IB money, but also not bad for a 22 year old.
