Yes I'm thinking the same thing |
| Our cashier had usually been a white guy in high school. |
Wolof? |
I'm jealous there is a parking lot to survive. 2 TJ's within a 2 mile radius? Meanwhile it took years of lobbying to get just 1 in the entire of PG county!! We will gladly welcome all languages spoken if it meant getting 1 or 2 more.

It is ridiculous to expect that other people should speak only in your language just because you are within earshot. The sound of languages other than English is not inherently offensive. You are probably descended from a few people who didn't speak much English when they arrived in the US. They probably didn't refrain from speaking in their native language the second they set foot in the US.
If you walk around looking for reasons to be offended, you will find them. |
| We have 4 TJ's in a five mile radius where I live. |
Yes they all do and the music is TERRIBLE. Why do they think we share their taste in music? It's bad enough we have to look at their ugly shirts. I would spend way more time there and spend way more money if I weren't subjected to their terrible taste in music. Leave me alone so I can shop in peace. That goes for all grocery stores, but TJ's is particularly bad. The only store with worse music is Safeway which I haven't set foot in in years. I don't want to hear some white man wailing about how brown leaves swirling in the fall air have him missing his failed love. STFU and let me focus on shopping. |
| It's surprising how many people don' t understand basic manners. Yes, it's great we have people from all over the world here -- and also we need to live together. These employees are not "other." They're just regular people with jobs at Trader Joe's who go home to make dinner at the end of the day, just like everyone else. And when they're at work they should be part of the larger group which is inclusive of all of us -- and in that group we speak English. |
This is crazy. Its not rude to speak in public to a friend even if someone, who is not part part of the conversation, is present and doesn't understand the language bring spoken. |
Agreed. Wonder if most people want to shop in peace. If workrs at the TJ were speaking LOUDLY in whatever language, it would be ruining the shopping experience. |
No one said don't speak to the friend. Lower the volume. Take it outside to the awful parking lot or save it for a break or outside work. |
