Where do Professors Send Their Children?

BASIS DC.

Funny, 22:05, I can't think of one family at BASIS with a professor as a parent. This is not really surprising, since it's a new school with no track record.

Wrong, PP. I know of at least one, but I am not prepared to out the family.

oneness.

spouse not in academia (makes 120), but we can hardly afford it and may have to move for a good public school. I will say that academics would pay a higher % of their income for the right kind of education for their kids. In our case that means one that instills a love of learning rather than a love of external rewards (grades, scores). We have a tiny condo and live paycheck to paycheck. We'll do it as long as we can. The academics I know mostly do public because of cost and don't place much value on early, accelerated academics anyway, so maybe this will change as their kids age.

Some Georgetown prof kids at Holton.

My dad was a professor. We couldn't have afforded private but he always made it pretty clear that he thought a diverse socio-economic environment was more important than any improvement in the quality of education provided at private schools.

What's the Norwood thread?

We're new there, but we know two professor families already. Actually, there's a huge range of professions there.

I'm a law Prof- my kid is at Lowell. There is another kid (out of 13) of a prof from another DC law school in my daughter's class.

Another with a kid at GDS. Many profs (I can think of a half dozen off the top of my head) send their kids here, but most are either married to a spouse in a high-earning profession or are professors in a professional school (law, usually).

I'm a religious studies professor. Planning to send my kid to Waldorf.

I'm a lawyer, spouse's family in academics. We're at Waldorf along with others. There are several musician's families here too.
