they will be named on the plaques at every classroom and lab

If you donate anonymously, for admissions purposes they still know your donor history.

This is all in your imagination and you are just trying to stir the pot and cause division. I bet you don't even live here.

What would be the problem with that?

You collect exactly the same amount the money just from tuition. Or alternatively you have tuition that depends on income. Same amount of money. Zero donations. Zero corruption.

That’s when people start insulting, because they don’t like to exchange ideas.

Of course they are listed - it’s in the annual giving report and that money has been raised over several years - we were asked to contribute 100k back in 2019 - which we didn’t give at that time - far more than we were ok. But when we have given over time since then - it’s been reported (we didn’t ask to be anonymous)

How do they know they could hit you up for 100k?

Wealth screening tools. Old fashioned research. Development departments aren't just taking a shot in the dark when they ask you for larger gifts.

I don’t think we are talking about the same school. I’ve never seen an annual giving report. I think the culture can be very different from one school to the next as far as how they approach recognition and anonymity.

Most people that donate large amount in private schools also donate for political parties and are engaged in lobby with congress. So it’s pretty normal to use to donations as a mechanism for influence.

A tuition that captures all costs in school and allow the school not to depend on donations will be more transparent.

Well board members are the ones that donate large amounts of money. Are the richest the most qualified parents?

I like to donate a significant amount of money to make sure the school does whatever I am asking them to do. It’s just like a white glove service.

You have to pay to play. People don’t like to acknowledge that but it’s real.

I guess that’s why donations are not anonymous.

School is for sale. You can provide a very visible permanent legacy for just 1 million dollars. Still cheaper than donating to museums or big charities.

Our school has an impressive number of donors that range from high profile companies to individuals. Still, the administration hired teachers with an impressive level of incompetence. This has hurt many students, both academically and psychologically.
Where the heck are they putting the money?
