There have been polls actually. The studies consistently show that liberal white women are the people most likely to end friendships due to differing political beliefs. And yes, as a Trump voter, I dearly love my family and friends that voted for Kamala even though I think they were misguided. Outside of far left and far right echo chambers most people get along pretty well actually.

AKA they have principles and aren’t doormats.

No. Their politics is their personality. You understand that, right?

No No No

1 side is a cult, UnAmerican, and filled with hate and literally stupid at this point in time.

As an American one stands with the Constitution and the 1st Amendment. If the US is to survive then no we can not be friends with the party of Putin. Party of hate. Party of stupids at this point in time they want a Dictator to rule. They think he is god. Well being an American means believing in our laws, the 1st Amendment and not a dictator that can throw you in jail because you said you don't like the color of his tie.

This is where we are the fight for America and Democracy if you do not get that right at this moment the world is wondering why the US is sucking up to Putin and that is wrong you have no business calling yourself an American.

There are no Republicans they are the party of traitors. Canada? How stupid are you people? 1st Amendment rights ie all of Trump's EO's in the last two days are a direct assault on the Constitution. The El Salvador flights if he wins that case or society collapses so much that the Constitution is gone you fools have no idea what you have done. He can literally throw you yes you in jail for absolutely nothing. Yeah read those cases before calling yourself an American because if you still support on Republican you are not American that is a fact.

In addition there are a lot of single issue voters for whatever reason.

-1 I’m a single issue voter: human rights

I believe it. I’m the human rights poster above. If you want to infringe on my rights, I’m going to have a hard time being myself around you. Most white women with a college degree are liberal.

I don’t think you can anymore because with this election every aspect of one’s life is impacted or will be impacted:

Friends and neighbors have lost jobs
Gay children choosing to remain abroad
Loss of money in retirement accounts
Implications/Accusations of being a DEI hire with damage to professional reputation
As of Friday, possible loss/ slow down of ss to elderly parents
Change in prescription pricing to much higher costs for elderly parents (already)
Consumer goods on the rise due to tariffs
Willingness to give up democratic principles in the name of immigration crackdown.
I’ll stop here.

So, I guess you can talk about someone’s new baby, a recipe you like, their pretty garden, a book or movie but on some level the realization is that they too believe all of this is ok. Really hard to have the same level of friendship, connection, love you had before.

I don’t wish anyone ill but more saddened, disappointed, and often dumbfounded that anyone I knew coming from a truly working class background could have fallen for Trump and the maga republican agenda, but here we are.

My father is an extremely generous person and now that he is retired his life is pretty much just helping others - giving them rides, helping them move, meeting them for breakfast or lunch, getting them things they need, fixing things for them etc. He always has great stories, the grandkids love him and he loves them and he will play with them down on the floor or runing around the house for hours.

My mother's passions in life are flowers and birds and she spends a great deal of time on these interests and in creating a very serene and peaceful place - her backyard is like a botanical garden! I greatly enjoy spending time with her in the garden, listening to her talk about her birds and looking at the beauty of nature.

So what if when out in your mom's garden enjoying the flowers with her she makes some incredibly racist comment? Would you just ignore it and move on? Would it bother you? Does she get a pass because she's your mother? What if it were another parent at your kid's school who said it? Would you cut them off?

I bought my car (the lowest end model 3) because it was actually affordable (do the math on the low end 3 vs a Camry) because of the high mileage I drive. I was attracted to no gas, no oil changes. Now I have to worry about some absolute lunatic spray painting my car or lighting it on fire. If you think this kind of craziness strengthens the liberal position, you are mistaken. I just want to drive to work in peace and do not think vandalizing innocent hard working people’s cars is an appropriate response to anything.

Prior to 2025, I would have guessed there were far more democrats who owned Teslas then Republicans, but I could be wrong. Now I think the tables have turned, but that's unfortunate that your car has become a symbol of hate. Not your fault, BTW, we have an electric car as well, and not because we support the company that makes them politically, we just got lucky I guess that Musk didn't make ours.

For me it comes down to it's the late 1930's up to 1940. Are you Amerika First? Think Ford and Kennedy and Lindbergh and the Prince of Wales have the right idea? Think war in Europe is none of our business? If German-American, do you kids go to nice Bund camps in summer?
If you do, my mother tracked you down when you tried getting war jobs or had sensitive positions in the NYC area after Pearl Harbor. She was German-Anerican and a great intelligence officer.

Nonsense. There are no good MAGATs. Only selfish, racist voters interested in lies and the dismantling of our democracy. Or very, very stupid people who have never taken a civics course in their life and don’t know what democracy is. Either way - I have cut all MAGATs out of my life. Good riddance to them all. I have enough other level-headed non-MAGAT family members and friends. I don’t need these other losers in my life.

You are exactly the type of person most people avoid.
And it is why polls show Democrat approval (read unhinged left wingers) is at an all time low.

I am extremey anti-Trump and I agree with both of you ironically
