| people underestimate how many international students try for some of these tech/engineering schools. They all seem to apply to same schools, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, UIUC, Univers of California, UT Austin, Va Tech |
It's Berkley, GT, UT Austin and Michigan right behind MIT Cal Tech Stanford. |
Why not go in state? We also have very strong engineering options in this area for which local kids have a better shot at admissions AND benefit from in state tuition, instead of fighting for a few oos slots at Ga tech when GA kids can get in more easily and having to pay oos tuition. That ranking difference is only going to matter in tangible outcomes if you are looking at graduate programs. |
dp.. not really. Certain companies are known to recruit at specific colleges. -parent of UMD CS major who got rejected to GATech with a 4.0uwgpa/4.92 wgpa and 1580 SAT |
Yes it's tough, but it's still 2 tears below ivy. Most of the students outside of CS get waitlisted at the Vandy/Emory level. |
lol. BS. |
My kid will be a freshman at GT in the fall OOS for engineering. He knows a lot of kids also with crazy stats that were flat out rejected. I know his roommate in the fall rejected Cornell for GT. |
GT first year retention is 97%, it is pretty high. So it is not for the purpose of filling the dropped out kid. The reason they do that is, GT has limited space for first year gen ed classes such as Eng1&2, lab science classes. GT wants to give qualified applicants chances to join. Pathway is for them to take all required gen ed classes somewhere else, if they meet the GPA and course requirements, they are guaranteed to be transferred in the second year. |
For engineering and CS, it is tier 1, on par with MIT, Stanford and Berkeley. The career outcome is absolutely great, it is the third largest silicon valley FANNG company feeder school, right below CMU and USC. |
LOL no, UCB is not at the same level as MIT or Stanford. |
Tears indeed. There are brilliant students and great professors at hundreds of colleges. It's a big country. |
I believe the poster just meant theses schools are known as Tier 1 for Engineering or Top 5. Not saying one was better than the other. |
Ignorant loser |
The spelling on this forum brings me to tiers. Some of you need to learn basic homophones. Tiers not tears. |
People not understanding the difference between the two brings me to tiers. |
