Sidwell’s football team sucks so I imagine just about everyone trying out can play. Not too hard to make the baseball team. Have to believe same for softball. |
There are 50 high schools in DC proper and I have no idea how many in the VA and MD burbs. I don’t pretend to know everything about every one of them, and I definitely don’t actually know everything about every one of them, because I have a life and am not insane. Also, golf isn’t even a real sport, so your sour grapes there are misplaced. |

+1 Alexandria City High School (4900 students) had 81 kids try out for baseball last Spring. Roster was 23. |

Life doesn't have to revolve around HS sports. Think about music, theater, drama, student body, service clubs, yearbook, those are all things schools look at.
And non school leagues exist for those who want to play but dont make their school team. |
Golf is a sport for RICH people, and it is very competitive to make the team among the rich. You poor people do not need to apply. |
Something seems off as no HS league has a 23 kid roster (I can see 25, but 23 is a random number)...so the coach decided only those 23 were strong enough to play. Alexandria City's team is OK, but nothing special. Just seems odd that any kid even 1/2 way decent wouldn't be added to the team to the roster max. |
Golf is a leisurely hobby for actual athletes to partake in during their off season. |
I don't know what to tell you. Look it up on Maxpreps. And I would say they were less than medicore, not decent. Last season was first with the new coach. Prior to that the coach was a travel coach who only picked his clients. Alexandria baseball is incredibly sleazy. Which you think would translate to being good, but it doesnt. |
