Two kids at the ES where I teach did this but no, of course there is no bus. Their parents had to drive them. They carpooled and it was every other day because of block scheduling at the middle school. We had a 9:15 start for our ES so it worked out that they were only a few minutes late every other day. |
Most districts are actually in line with national norms, however some schools do deviate from the averages. Not everyone lives in a “wealthy suburban district”. In the end choose a class and path that is appropriate for the child. In an average class, 90 percentile means the kid is in the top 3 students. At 95 percentile likely they are the best student in the class. If the student is 99th percentile, there won’t be much to learn from the class. Some people take this route and supplement heavily with outside enrichment, and just rubber stamp the class, eg summer geometry. Not ideal in my view because you’re double taking classes and time would be better spend on other classes or activities. |
