Jewish at Boston College

I think this forum has had way more than enough conversation about BC. No school in that interesting.

It is a conservative school so there's not antisemitism per se but most students have never spent time with kids who aren't Catholic. In generally, I would not recommend this school unless your kid went to a top Catholic prep school. They will be a fish out of water.

Why did you bump this old thread, just to bash a school? Troll.

But I have hand zero first hand knowledge and have done zero research— didn’t even read this thread! I just google this school and respond negatively any time it’s mentioned.

Apples and oranges. Mormons are not open to other religions whereas Jesuit Catholics are welcome to all.

BYU is open to other religions. Most kids from other religions just don't apply. It's usually around 5 Jewish students total. BC has 89 Jewish students. 89 is better than 5, but it is still a very small percentage. It's fine to not be comfortable with that, and also fine to not care, but definitely important to know!

Technically yes, but you still have to follow all the Mormon rules (no coffee, no alcohol, no premarital sex, heterosexual relationships only, modest clothing, limited piercings, curfew, etc.) or face disciplinary action up to, and including, expulsion.

You definitely don't have to follow any sort of Catholic rules or dogma to attend BC, and in fact most practicing Catholics don't either. The university doesn't care one iota.

This is a ridiculous (and false) statement.

Conservatives are very welcoming to Jews. It’s the liberals who are raging anti-Semitic.

What a fake take. Most Jews ARE liberals 😂
