Good call to PP with Phil Collins!

Maybe too on the nose, but Mozart's Lacrimosa. I played it on repeat when I learned about a close family member's terminal diagnosis.

Brandi Carlile, her voice and melodies make me ugly cry. The lyrics are often about relationships that aren’t working, but the lyrics are vague enough that it feels like it’s about me

If you want just one song, it’s hard to pick, but I’ll say “By the way, I forgive you”

Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac

And watch the live version where Stevie Nicks is practically screaming “you’ll never get away from the sound of the woman who loves you” while looking directly at Lindsey Buckingham.

Time to Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman

Definitely a sad feel but actually a hopeful song. I crank it in my car, and it always make me teary.

I think you need to add some woman power songs as well Like Gloria Gaines, I Will Survive or Melissa Etheridge Like the Way I Do or Alanis Morissette You Oughta Know

Everybody Hurts is perfect! You could also add Pictures of You by The Cure or Creep by Radiohead.

Independent Women, Part 1 by Destiny's Child could be good for your power song playlist!

Hugs to you, OP and all of you going through this!

+1 to Brandi - I'd suggest The Story or Again Today.

Another good country one is Anymore by Travis Tritt. Not really a break up song, but definitely sad.
