New DCPS grading policy?

The way final grades are calculated is so inflated it’s ridiculous. If the average quality points are a 3.31 you grt an A- (a 3.3 is a B+). It’s outlandish.

100000000000% to this.

Older assignments just being entered into Aspen now being marked as incomplete (when they were completed and submitted on time)

The only reason my kid was in school this week was to be able to keep an eye on Aspen and correct teachers when incorrect WS's were put in

I’ve been trying to fix incompletes for 2 weeks now. This grading system really sucks and is unfair to parents who are not on top of things. Let’s go back to the basics and have assignments and tests on paper that are returned to the students graded the following week.

You all realize that the policy of incessant retakes added to the churn and burden for teachers. Don’t blame them for submitting grades late or mistakenly enter grades. The whole retake business is utter nonsense.

I am not surprised. As a parent, I think the whole re-take is BS and further adds to the already lowered expectations currently.

if they submitted the grades and provided clear feedback and I knew where my child stood, I would not be sweating the retakes.
