How’d the scrimmages go against NVA?

Only saw a couple of games but the ones I watched NVA dominated in both the 2009 and the 2011 age groups. Wasn’t even close but it’s too early to tell, these are after all, just scrimmages. The main takeaway was that there was soccer talent all over the fields on both sides and the soccer looked pretty, but FVU just doesn’t have the athletes or speed that NVA has, at least yesterday they didn’t.

Dominated? The 11s score was 3 to 2. The union 2012s won.

Concur with pp that FVU doesn't have the speed or athletes that NVA has at least at that game. That was also Union's problem last year.

What field are you talking about? Lewinsville and Spring Hill are county facilities, so that's not on the club, though I think MYS has been raising money for bathrooms at LP.

The PP was actually being kind. It was 3-0 and NVA had a bad injury. Could have been 4-0 but for a questionable offsides call. NVA took there foot off the gas which they need to learn not to do.

The PP was actually being kind. It was 3-0 and NVA had a bad injury. Could have been 4-0 but for a questionable offsides call. NVA took there foot off the gas which they need to learn not to do.

I agree Union does not have enough speed and athletes to compete. The speed of play is way too slow. You can clearly see our girls are fighting for their positions (DB not kidding around with this). Union is too comfortable as everyone gets to play. Burying slow players in key postions - the attack and the midfield. The players in attack do not have the speed to take anyone on (looking to pass even in a situation where there is one v one). Same case as the midfield can't stop anyone as they are too slow. They really do not have anyone in the midfield that can defend at this fast pace. They do not have any real defensive midfielders. Leaving it up to the back three. Who are trying but its too much pressure on them. They have two attack players (one just came back from injury) that are good and another defender that is good and fast but not enough to compete at this level. With the talent they have, the 3 back formation will be a disaster. Only works when you have a very strong attack and midfield which they are lacking. They need to switch to a 4 back to make it through the season.

Agreed, why is NVA 2010 parent all up in the FVU 2011 business? Do folks really have time to watch other youth games that their own kids are not playing in? And to be an expert in what formation FVU should run after watching one scrimmage?

Who cares. Only time will tell if the NVA parent was right. The season is starting in two weeks - September 7th. Will see who is delusional (NVA parent or FVU parent)

Hmm... Last year, the Union parents were claiming goalie issues for most of their losses. Is this the case this year again?

At least they aren't taking ads out on soccerwire for an ECNL girls goalkeeper like NVA is for one of the age groups.
