Spending money in college

We give $200 a month. We pay tuition, r&b, books and meal plan. If they don't use up the full $200 at the end of the month they are not given another $200 - just enough to bring them back up to $200.

It's partially the gear pulling a lot of weight, but it is expensive to have fun in Southern California too. She earns about half of it from her 3 on-campus jobs, but we also give her a decent sum that she often rejects.
