'Rampant' drug use raises concern at Kennedy High School in Montgomery County

Kennedy is not BCC or a W (stands for Wheaton, obviously

sad situation. why doesn't MCPS install detectors and discipline students in front of parents /caregivers violating school rules?

Churchill had a problem recently.

Substance use is pervasive, and you never know when and at which school it will bubble up.

W's are well known for their drug culture. Students at other schools just don't have that kind of discretionary spending.

Kids caught get a phone call to the parents. Repeat offenders go home and they can sit in their room doing virtual learning and smoke their weed in peace.

Because schools are supposed to be reducing suspensions and discipline referrals and state funding is stupidly tied to this. Parents who are concerned should be making a huge stink.

Sounds like you need to write your state rep about making some changes.

DCUM hysteria, meet crackpot teacher who thought that he would testify before the board, instead of talking with his principal. Kennedy is not some wasteland. This teacher will probably be elsewhere next year, because he mostly wants to throw verbal bombs out there. Veracity is an issue for him.

Who told you the teacher didn’t talk to the principal? That is an idiotic assumption to make.

This is why there are no more teachers. Every little thing in school has to be he said she said crap the pta admin parents kids etc. Usually all the blame is on the teacher who has no support or protectionand everyone can collectively take a dump on the with all their problems and then blame them because they are the only ones who try to help. Welcome e to education in the modern age. Pass the trash and wait til retirement. Lol.

You’re lying.

Is KHS principal black? Is teacher not black?

Now that Maryland amended the clean indoor air act, vaping in indoor public places is banned. Will MCPS now be able to do more to implement and enforce disciplinary actions to prevent vaping inside school buildings?

Only if you want skeevy old guys hanging out in bathrooms.

The pot of today is different - stronger and mixed with chemicals in a different delivery method.

DP. That's what they said 30 years ago too, when I was in high school (not in MCPS, and I never smoked pot).

So the rise in psychosis among adolescents is just made up?

I don't know what to tell you. They actually did say this. They have been saying "The pot of today is different - stronger" since at least the 1970s.

Okay but there's actually PROOF of this now, given all of the marijuana mixed with fentanyl reports. Is that serious enough for you?
