Something like Davidson’s academic offerings (esp policy and Econ)

As a point of comparison, Davidson placed 39th among its peers when considered by faculty publishing in economics:

If the size limits were loosened, I'd recommend Colgate.

Disagree. The campus cultures are quite different.

OP okay but this is what I’m literally asking.

Something like Davidson’s academic offerings (esp policy and Econ), kids vibe that is left leaning without being quirky, sports culture without having 35% of the kids playing a sport (so more - “let’s go to the big game this weeekend”), serious academics without a grinder culture, happy kids.

Things that he was neutral about: location, southern-ish, architecture, town.

Deal breaker: size. Too small.

ED Vanderbilt and cross your fingers

With Econ and policy as a primary academic interests and your other criteria, ED Vanderbilt, Tulane EA as a backup. If you can get into Davidson, you should qualify for merit from Tulane.

Tufts. I don’t know why it has a reputation for “quirky”. The kids are like any other nescac school. There’s a real mix of kids, all focused on academics.

My understanding is that Tufts does not the sports culture that OP’s kid found at Davidson and wants to find in a bigger school:

“sports culture without having 35% of the kids playing a sport (so more - “let’s go to the big game this weeekend”)”

How many kids at Tufts actually go watch the school teams play football, basketball, soccer, baseball, lacrosse etc. for fun?

liked the vibe and academic offerings at Davidson the most, but now it's Junior year and I feel like we're getting short on time to see things.

high stats student. reaches will be t10 schools. merit would be great .

Rice, William and Mary, Tufts, Rochester, Wake

Holy Cross and Colgate. Tufts is on no Way similar to Davidson

At W&M and wake you'll actually get people going to football and basketball games. Wouldn't say the same about a lot of the others that have been suggested

For 2024 football Season Holy cross Had 5 home games With attrndance over 10,000. William and Mary Had only 1 home Game With attrndsnce barely over 10,000. Not even close and HC has smaller enrollment

Duke, WashU, Northwestern, ND, Rice.

All this schools are significantly harder admits than Davidson. And yes, I know the boosters will quote the acceptance rate but the average admitted student stats will be lower.

Spoken by someone with no clue.

But we're talking about students not overall attendance
