+1 It's pathetic. |
Okay diamond expert, what do you consider big and gaudy? Not caudy. 😁 |
|
Definitely stick within the range she gave you for size. Some say bigger is better but that wasn’t the case for me.
I have a lab diamond so the price difference between a 1.5 carat and 2.5 carat was negligible but I did not like the way the 2.5 looked at all. Maybe as a cocktail ring, but not for an ering. I have small fingers and it looked silly on me. |
| OP here. Thanks guys. I found a ring. |
| Don't buy any ring. It really is the dumbest thing ever. Waste of money. |
| $0. Women want to be loved not bought. |
What did you pick op? |
OP here. Ring: Shape - round Size - 1.52 carat Cut - excellent Color - E Clarity - IF Fluorescence - None Now I need to decide if I should get a solitaire 4 or 6 prong band. All together about $20k. |
| It doesn't matter at all. I loved my ring. We're divorced, and it's floating around the bottom of my underwear drawer now. |
| I'd love to rummage through your...drawers. |
Sucker… |
Love sniffing your panties… |
That sounds lovely. I personally prefer 4 prong. 6 prong is too much metal. |
Wait til you learn some couples have the audacity to marry... with no ring. |
|
Congrats op. If it’s not too late try to get a band that doesn’t contain nickel because that can be a cause of allergies.
My DH was a PhD candidate when we married with a $20k annual stipend. I had just finished graduate school and was staying my job. He got me a wedding band with diamonds, not realizing it was a wedding band, for about $800. We then bought a more traditional engagement ring together for $1,200 at an estate sale. I still love both (and him ) and would pick them out all over again 16 years later. One gauche colleague told me that she would have turned down anyone who proposed with a ring worth less than a car, but otherwise I don’t think anyone’s commented on it much.
