Potomac ECNL Boys ID Sessions - anyone hearing anything?

Geez. In my 30+ years of working, I’ve seen employees at every level resign, got fired, and/or laid off for countless reasons.

Heck, maybe another club needs his immediate service and wants to him for at a higher salary? If so, I’m happy for him. How many of you on here have left your jobs because of a better opportunity/job?

When someone leaves a job for a better opportunity, they don't usually phrase the announcement as "will no longer be associated with...."

They definitely will if one of your key employee goes to a competitor club.

Why would someone do that leaving their kid in the program that they just left abruptly from? Something is not adding up.

What makes you think he left his kid at the club? I’m sure he brought or will bring his kid to the new club too once the season is over.

In which case the competitor club would announce the hire at the same time, as these things are typically coordinated. In the grown-up world, at least.

I noticed the interim TD who is filling in for this guy was hired recently, or at least it was announced about 2 weeks ago. My theory is that the new boss pushed out the old guy in one way or another—whether it was the new boss cleaning house, or the boss’s boss preparing for an ouster.

Fair point.

Mostly agree, but it would still raise a red flag. If I had a kid playing for a girls team or an entirely different age group, I would feel far enough from the drama to ignore it.

But the sudden mid-season departure of the director of your brand-spanking-new ECNL program, who has been with the club for years in other positions, and announcing it with language more often associated with employers doing damage control after some sex or embezzling scandal—that would give me some pause about continuing to have my kid enrolled in their ECNL or pre-ECNL programs.

Just the opposite for me...the fact that a club would take public action to fix a big problem would be a huge plus.

I likewise noted that the announcement speaks volumes with its tone & absence of words. It’s all just speculating now. Should wait to see what/if other communications or announcements reveal; also more discussion here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/1202398.page
Crisis management is first and foremost weathering the storm, and we’re not helping here.

As a parent with a son at Potomac I was alarmed and am hoping they send out a follow up. I had heard complaints but nothing to the level of such an abrupt departure.

Agree the timing and wording of the announcement hints at something serious, and with the caveat that I haven’t had a kid at Potomac for several years, this is Potomac we’re talking about. It could just be ineptitude or pettiness at work. I’d say the same about most local clubs issuing similar statements.
