We REALLY have been spending more but getting less

Our HHS is around $160000 only in Northern Virginia. We have one child in elementary school. We never eat out or do take outs. I do buy quality food products ( at Whole Foods, Costco and Aldi) as eating healthy is very important to me. Since I go to the grocery stores all the time, I know exactly the prices and how they have increased since COVID. We don't do any paid after school activities. Also, no hair dressers/beauty salons etc. Of note, I'm an immigrant and grew up rather poor so I can adjust easily to harsh conditions. Our mortgage is paid off and we don't have any debt.

I have not read the article, but from what you have posted it appears to be entirely pointless and misleading. The impacts of inflation aren’t impactful over weeks, it’s months and years.

Bread $1.75 to $3
Raisins $2.50 to $4.50
Milk $3 to $4.75
Cheese $1.75 to $3
Apples $2.50 to $4
Spinach $1.75 to $3

I shop all over the DMV from Alexandria to Germantown and don’t notice much difference.

+2 That pp was trying to rewrite history and gaslight us into thinking that food costs haven't soared since the pandemic began. We're UMC but this inflation is killing us. Groceries, gas, restaurants, housing, any type of contractor to repair or upgrade anything for the house, haircuts - almost EVERYTHING has skyrocketed in costs since the pandemic began.
