Crime: “We cannot arrest and prosecute our way out of it.”

When you lockup criminals, crime goes down. Really common sense logic.

They came to the US and brought their MS13 crime with them. That's why the crime started to dip in El Salvadore.

It started to dip because they declared a state of emergency, took special powers, built a super prison in 4 months, and locked them all up. Their murder rate is now 2nd only to Canada

How can we get "tough crackdown on crime, end no-papering etc" as a ballot initiative rather than having the endless dithering and "not my fault, it's his fault" passing of the buck? Let the people speak on it.

Are you drunk?

In 2023 DC had the highest homicide rate in 26 years. Almost all of the victims were black, including children.

Your attempts to dismiss their deaths with buzzwords is shockingly racist.

Actually, both things are true, many were locked up, others came to US.

Didn't know ushering my kids in while somebody was murdered and the shots rang out at the end of our block and watching the getaway car peal down my alley, multiple episodes of kids being shot within blocks from my house, a friend randomly punched on a DC bus, a person from my workplace being carjacked and murdered a year ago, contractor being carjacked at the end of my street 15 min before I was at the same light w/ my kids, a friend watching two guys pull guns on each other as she was getting out of her car to walk into her apt building, hearing gunshots ring out from assorted random drive by shootings, and on and on, is just "white fragility". PS, all of that is within the past year. I just had a conversation with a co-worker who lives in PG right outside the city where she said she hears gunshots nearly every day. Every. Day.

Let me guess - when some mass elementary school shooting is in the news, you will crow on and on about how the GOP is the reason we can't have "gun control" and "you can't blame evil on mental illness" but when it's local violent crime in our own city that we see and experience and hear, and disproportionately impacts POC, it's "white fragility". You'll empathize vocally with the trauma of some kid in another state who had to hide under their desk, but will not speak up vocally about kids in the city who lose their friends or family to gun violence.

Take your hypocrisy and shove it.

Schwab straight up said in his campaign commercial that he was "gonna git after" juvenile crime. Seems contrary to what he has done and said since his election.

It would seem that the Council should have oversight hearings on his performance, except they seem to share his goal?

The irony of this post is that “POC’s” have been the fragile ones in recent years — calling everyone and everything racist, blaming white peoples for everything including the weather, and literally rioting when George Floyd died. Yet white people are fragile 🙄.
