And yet the thread is for missing persons cases. Not true crime. Not murdered.

And yet it is worth attention and was posted regardless. Whine more.

He was killed in Georgetown in a townhouse he was in with three men. Extremely suspect and the more and more you look into it the more bizarre it seems than none of the defendants were guilty.

Not missing.

Doesn't matter.

Well it matters when the assignment is to give a missing persons/ disappearance case.

It really doesn't. It's a fascinating cold case that very much fits the mystery vibes OP wanted.

She didn’t say she wanted any old fascinating mystery she said specifically she wanted a missing persons case. It is literally the title of her post.

Oh well, it was posted regardless. And now OP can check it out and you can moan about it on this board repeatedly. Win win.

I'm from the midwest and remember her disappearance vividly.

One of her friends who was involved has his unique name on a real estate listing outside of my office and I think about it all the time as I pass it.

+3 I don't think the friends were involved at all. I think it was an opportunistic predator who found her stumbling home alone. I don't think the college kids could have disappeared the body and/or one of them would have cracked considering they weren't really close with each other thus wouldn't cover for each other.

Ben McDaniel, last seen scuba diving in an area of an underwater cave he wasn't certified to be in. Possibilities include being stuck in the cave somewhere (though most people think there's nowhere in the cave he could have fit through that hadn't been searched), staging his own death due to marital and money troubles, accidental drowning and disposal of the body by the park owner for liability reasons, and getting into an altercation with the owner on the surface.

Wasn’t she incredibly intoxicated and likely on drugs with a definite known history of drug use? Given that scenario, it’s pretty likely she died accidentally and it was all covered up by her companions to avoid trouble.

Theories include: murder (with several viable suspects playing voluntary roles in the documentary), suicide, psychotic fugue state, intentional disappearance.

This pretty much can be the theory in any disappearance. Aside from abduction/trafficking.

All fully and fascinatingly explored in this documentary. Watch or don't but carping about description of the doc here isn't really accomplishing anything.

Wow - this is giving Gone Girl vibes.

Here's some theories

This is so interesting!

My first thought was, I wonder if she had a miscarriage. Perhaps it started out slowly, she panicked as she paced the house, finally deciding to bring the children to the neighbors. Perhaps she was distraught and started to bleed more heavily and went into a panicked state and fled for help? They say she only lost a half-pint of blood though. But perhaps she thought it was worse that it was?

It wouldn’t account for the beer bottles, though, that’s a mystery.

I thought maybe a diy abortion but now I think PPD and suicide. Definitely suicide.

But what about all the library books she had read about faking your own death???

The Hoggle children
Hannah Upp
David Stern

in all of them, I have thoughts about what might have happened but I would like to know for sure and of course so would their families.

This is one of the cases where I'd most like to know what happened.

I agree with you. If it was an accidental OD, I actually find it hard to believe that that many basically normal kids at IU would have (1) sought to cover it up and (2) sucessfully covered it up for this long. One of the ones who didn't supply to drugs/basically wasn't involved in the death itself (e.g., the kid that was studying all evening) would have confessed to mommy/daddy who would have gotten a high priced lawyer & an immunity offer. I think an opportunistic predator grabbed her and murdered her or she ODs when in the company of an older unknown party and that's where she ODs.

August Reiger. Is it really just that he fell somewhere & his body has still never been found? It seems so unlikely... and yet so much likelier than any of the alternatives.
