Did she sign her contract or is she not bound by that either? |
I think it would be important to keep politics out of the school system. Were there any other communication contractors considered? |
| Looking forward to MCPS official hot take on the Gaza Hospital that exploded. |
|
Here’s an idea: Perhaps treat staff and students with respect and honesty. Set high standards for achievement and behavior. Enforce the Student and Staff Codes of Conduct. Then perhaps MCPS wouldn’t need a PR firm to minimize and deflect each crisis Central Office finds itself in.
The PR contract does nothing to improve educational outcomes for students or clean up the toxic environment in MCPS schools. |
More rubber stamping by the BOE. Dr. McKnight requests the emergency contract for PR spin control so the BOE approves her request. Perhaps if the BOE would dig a little deeper into Dr. McKnights appointees and her requests, then MCPS wouldn’t be in crisis. |
And when Dr. McKnight does her own PR, people on DCUM just complain about poor communications. Seems like she can't win with some of you. |
True, but unfortunately, pleasing everyone is a tall order. |
PR Spin Control v Effective Communication. YMMV.
|
You are the only person she is winning with. |
| What is the main ongoing crisis right now that is facing MCPS? It’s the Beidleman case. 18+ complaints of sexual harassment and bullying were ignored by MCPS. Multiple high ranking Central Officials employees are on Administrative Leave. Records were altered by MCPS to change the timeline. The whole mess stinks of a long standing company culture of abuse of power, dishonesty, and cover up. More spin, deflection and cover up attempts are not going to make people forget what we now know occurred. The new PR contract is a waste of taxpayer money with a personal agenda for bad leadership trying to save their jobs. |
We expect leaders to be able to communicate effectively, not "do PR". It's a big part of the job. |
Yes. It’s because she is performing poorly in her job. |
This is truly an excellent point. Mcknight is very good at PR, particularly promoting herself. She is not so good at communicating effectively and honestly. |
Hence the need for pros to help! |
How about we get an actual pro to do a professional job in the first place? |
