I am completely disgusted and concerned. However, I am not sure why most people care. They voted to legalize weed. That there says it all.

Not the pp, but weed is very unhealthy. We should all be obsessed about the fact that most people in our state think it's ok to smoke, eat weed, and driving while under the influence of weed is a very real concern.

Not really. Nobody is doing anything to harm you. You’re getting yourself all worked up in your own mind about the fact that other adults choose to live differently than you do. That’s not healthy. If you don’t smoke cannabis then you don’t have to worry about it. You should probably focus on your obsession with how other people live.

No healthy, well-adjusted teen wakes up in the morning and says let's do fentanyl or tranq today.

Trauma is the biggest gateway drug. Weed or alcohol are used at first for the escapism. Teenage brains are still forming. It associates the drug with relief from stress. Addiction kicks in. Then there's tolerance and a craving for more and a loss of control. Eventually it escalates. And you get the zombies nodding out on the sidewalk. Then they die.

Any discussion about weed vs alcohol among teenagers is pointless. They're both terrible for neurological development. I think in the current climate - fentanyl polluting everything - it is so, so, so important to keep kids away from all alcohol and drugs. It's a really dangerous world out there presently.

So is alcohol.

Drink. Smoke. Whatever. But NO to driving under the influence of weed. Like driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of weed is dangerous to oneself and to others.

"Researchers analyzed 19 years of data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System, a national database of fatal crashes on public roads. They found that from 2000 to 2018 the percentage of crash deaths involving cannabis increased from 9 percent to 21.5 percent, and the percentage of deaths involving cannabis and alcohol also more than doubled, from 4.8 percent to 10.3 percent. Their results also show that cannabis-involved car crashes are more likely to involve the deaths of passengers, as well as individuals younger than 35, compared to crash deaths not involving cannabis."

FBI Director Christopher Wray just testified today to the House Judiciary Committee that the number 1 concern of the FBI is drugs, specifically fentanyl in pills.

So this is not a MoCo problem, and fentanyl has nothing to do with weed (although personally I am against freely-available weed).

The precursor ingredients for fentanyl are made in several countries, particularly China, and smuggled at various points of entry, particularly the southern border.

It's a national and geostrategic problem. Remember when the UK pushed opiates in China? Well now this is revenge, isn't it? Tool of war, basically.

And the % of fentanyl users who never smoked weed is what, 1%?

I think the more pertinent statistics is the number of weed smokers who never tried fentanyl.

Not in this case. I bet every one of these kids has a history with pot.

DP. Given the large numbers of pot users who do not use fentanyl, "pot is bad because pot use leads to fentanyl use" is not a valid argument.

Members of one Montgomery County community came together Tuesday for candid conversation, as local leaders say drugs and violence are causing a youth crisis.

The Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee hosted a listening session to hear from the folks on the front lines of that crisis.

“I want them to take away the urgency of this situation. It is extremely urgent,” business owner Dave Jarrett said.

Jarrett‘s restaurant and lounge, Crossroads Two, has been open less than a year in Wheaton. But over the last six months, the small business owner said he’s witnessed a frightening trend on Fern Street.

“[They’re] spaced out, walking the streets like zombies,” he said. “I am seeing it. I stand there and watch the kids, zoned out, they come in and say, ‘Can I have water?’ and they are practically standing and sleeping. Just imagine what I’m telling you.”

Many members of the community have similar stories of young people out on the street, under the influence with nowhere to go.

Montgomery County officials said rates for youth public intoxication, overdoses and violent crime are up across the DMV.

Unbelievable. So so sad. And what is Maryland’s reaction? Make pot legal, of course

Doesn’t sound like they’re on pot. Weed doesn’t make you a zombie, it just mellows you out and let’s you chill. The thirsty thing is weird too. Weed doesn’t do that either. They’re probably on something else. Or perhaps they’re just trump supporters.

Either way, legal weed can offer them a safe alternative to whatever they’re on now, so we should all thank the state of MD for it’s foresight.

Weed for adolescents is not safe. This is exactly the kind of misinformation the marijuana lobby keeps peddling, despite the science and recommendations from official health entities.

Stop it.

Hey Nitwit:

People don’t “use” fentanyl. They use other drugs, including pot, that are laced with fentanyl. And then they die.

Pot has obviously ruined your ability to think and reason critically, and to comprehend scientific evidence right in front of you.

Don’t be like this person.
