I think we pretty much agree on everything so I'm not sure why you have a problem with me saying it's silly to say the kids in SS are not smart enough. |
+1. People just don’t realize it. Incredibly high achieving people in SS, but maybe not high income — professors, scientists, govt. Bethesda — high income certainly doesn’t mean high achieving or intelligent. Lots of dumb money there. |
Oh good grief. Professors and scientists are not low income! They may not be 1 percenters but they would be considered decent income earners compared to the vast majority of earners in this country. |
| We have an older child at Einstein and 2 youngers at Oakland Terrace ES. So far very good. Older child is in IB program and my younger kids are loving the immersion and speaking Spanish like crazy. |
Oh good grief. Are you suggesting that schools in western Montgomery county don't have children with "behavior challenges"? Give me a break! |
Of course they do. I didn't say anything about schools in western Montgomery County. We can't afford to live there so I haven't researched those schools. My comment comes from my research I have done talking to MCPS employees and reviewing survey results showing certain ESs have behavior issues leading to significant safety concerns among staff. |
Actually, studies show that it is, in fact, true. https://www.aecf.org/blog/parental-involvement-is-key-to-student-success-research-shows https://militaryfamilies.psu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Parents-Educational-Levels-Influence-on-Child-Educational-Outcomes.20Jan06.final_.pdf |
Could you please provide the results of your research? |
No, it's not published research, sorry, and was specific to certain neighborhoods we were looking at. You can start with the MCPS school climate surveys if you want. |
No you can not. Those surveys are old and not relevant. MCPS is too scared to continue them. |
Look again |
Thanks- where? |

Fewer than 25% of parent surveys returned and the last year is 2018-19. That plus conversations with people is your "research"? |
Either you didn't actually look or you live in an alternate universe where the 2022-23 teacher survey results have not been posted. I also said they are a starting point for research, not the only piece. Stop being a jerk for no reason. |
