No, but it is a very full day, early morning and evening return. |
PP said her group's behavior was excellent. No point penalizing all the kids. Kids who can't behave can stay at the school. |
Isn't that like six or seven hours on a bus in one day? That's terrible. Pass. I am curious about the cost. Does FCPS or the school pay any of it? What about the kids who don't pay? What do they do in Philly? |
PTA covers the cost of those that can’t pay, but many parents pay, even those on FARMs. Plus there are a few generous families that pay for 2-3 spots because they all want all the kids to go. |
What's the cost per kid? What does it include? |
No, you don’t stay over night. It’s a shorter distance than Jamestown. And, the cost of the charter bus is included with the fee the kids pay. I think it’s $60 per kid. |
It’s the same distance to and from Jamestown. |
Our also included the cost to the Ben Franklin Institute (interactive museum) |
Wow, $60 a kid is a lot. PTA can afford to pay for that? |
It’s about 30 fewer miles to Philly compared to Jamestown. And yes, those fourth grade trips to Jamestown are mostly spent on a bus. About 3 hours each way. |
The PTA only pays for those that cannot pay. |
At most schools that would be a third or more of the class. That's a lot. |
As someone mentioned early, the majority of families do pay. We give a lot of notice. At our school, even the lower is come families can give $20 or 40. In the end, it’s only a handful every year - and we’re a Title I school. |
Geez this encapsulates citizenship in 2023 |
Not Philly but we do something similar with Jamestown. Parents pay and they get charter busses. Leave super early and get back late. A very long day. |
