Girlfriend w tight clothing

If you’re a sexy woman and you wear sexy clothing, you will get sexual attention. So I don’t like my GF wearing it out when I’m not with her, and she doesn’t want a bunch of horndog men leering at her. So I’m with OP here. She is out trying to attract the attention of horndog men. And certainly succeeding because we are everywhere. Of course he doesn’t like it.

So when creepy men leer at women in body armor, mechanic overalls, sweat pants or medical scrubs, do you still blame the women?

If only someone would invent a clothing garment that could put a stop to this entirely preventable leering. We could insist women wear it outside the home. Oh, wait….

Your question is different from the one at hand. No one is blaming GF for wanting attention, if that’s what she wants. But it is valid for OP to be concerned about the attention GF is seeking while at work.

Yeah, there's definitely someone at work whose attention she's trying to get. Run OP, run!

OP here. Opinions seem pretty mixed on this, but thanks everyone for the input. Since this was not the norm, I think I'll leave it alone for now.

Nope. Don't blame them at all. But when women are seeking attention based on their sex appeal, I don't think it's wrong of their significant other to notice that they are seeking that attention.

OP - did she have an event after work? Was she “working late” that night?

She’s dressing for someone….just not you.

OP. I think she had a dinner and wine thing with girlfriends that night. One of her friends had been out of town for work for a while, so they all got together to catch up because she was back in town.

In other ways (like how she speaks), is she polished or does she come across as lower class. (Sorry, I know that expression is not popular, but I mean does she seem to have good breeding...come from a family that is well mannered???)

If you are correct, then her style will likely impede her from being taken seriously as a professional woman (but maybe she is support staff?).

If you are just jealous and want her to look frumpy because you think of her as YOUR possession. Then keep your mouth shut. That is Taliban-esque.

She's an attorney and usually does not dress like that to work, which is why it was noteworthy and I commented on it. This was outside of the norm.

She usually comports herself in a professional manner with work stuff. I usually don't really care what she wears; she's typically well put together. But this seemed like a bit much.

She might have been dressing for her girlfriends and dinner then, especially if it was at a nice place. It’s fun to get dolled up with friends occasionally. I do agree this is vibes a bit sexy for a corporate office and would really only work with a blazer to off set it.

It was at one of their houses.

The PP is saying girlfriend shouldn’t wear a dress he finds sexy because gross men will be gross

Breaking News: Gross men will be gross regardless of what a woman is wearing. Wasn’t a woman sexually harassed literally asleep in body armor? It’s time to take the views of men out of decisions about what women wear.

This is disingenuous. Yes, gross men will be gross. And it's not appropriate for anyone to ask a woman to regulate her dress based on the gross men. HOWEVER, a woman can also dress in a way that is sexy, is intended to be sexy, and is intended to draw attention based on sexual interest. It is not unreasonable for a man in an exclusive relationship with that woman to be unhappy about his partner dressing in such a way for an event in which he has no involvement.

She is a grown woman who has gotten herself through school and employed at a good job. I would assume that as such she is capable of behaving professionally at work and trust that she, as an adult, is capable of handling her own professional career.

If my husband offered me unsolicited opinions on how I should dress to go to the job I've had and been successful at for years I too would tell him he was being controlling and ridiculous.

Telling your adult employed girlfriend what she should wear to work is infantilizing and that is why she reacted the way she did. It is none of your business what she wears to work. And if the issue is that you feel like you have some type of ownership over her 's3xiness' ie, you don't like that other men will be looking at her, then you truly are likely fundamentally incompatible with a successful female attorney who is confident in her body and her mind.

Ok brace yourself— what if she likes the dress and likes the way she looks in it? She’s supposed to change her mode of dress because men will look at her with sexual interest?
