UMD a State flagship ranked #55 nationally is not considered a safety.
|
It was for my kid. And, it was "these days." Look. I don't know why one poster is hung up on this. Everyone can have different likelies. UMD was for #1 (this past year), and with certain stats level, yeah, it can be a likely. Super high performers were not rejected. Only one rejected on that thread even came close to the stats that I'm talking about. Clearly it was a likely/safety for several posters here, not just mine. It may not be as likely for my #2 kid. And, that's OK too. I am really enjoying reading this thread and getting great feedback on all the schools. How about we just do that rather than trying to lecture other people about their choices and experiences! |
OP asked about what people considered. While it isn't a safety for most, it is for some. Let it go.... |
If you interpreted what OP asked that way, you are not very intelligent. |

How far has MoHo fallen that it's been listed as a safety on a number of these threads? |
Here too! Kid thought they were a shoo-in for Villanova. Didn't get it. Picked Scranton and LOVES it, but also considered St. Joe's. I was impressed with the visit. |
| Indiana. Job right out of college. Beautiful campus. So many different things to study and so many activities. |
Can you tell me more? DD is looking very closely at going there (and I think it would be a good fit for her), but would love to hear any specifics about peoples' current/recent experiences. |
| One person’s reach is another person’s safety school. |
There are many students for whom it is a safe bet, including the children of many who post on this website. It's useful to know that students are happy there despite having had their sights set elsewhere. |
Oh, here we go. A school's acceptance rate is not the ONLY metric of its worth. Multiple people are posting that their kids LOVE MHC. That does not exactly suggest a place that has "fallen far." |
NP. If you’re on Facebook, I suggest you join the GMU Parents page (it’s for prospective parents, too). They are realists and share the good and the bad about the school. |
