| Moving to Whitetopia. Stuck it out as long as I could with the best intentions. ATVs and gunfire did it. You’re welcome to it. |
How dare you criticize authentic DC culture ? |
| I love the scolding title of this thread. Reason #4,932,801,759 liberals repulse others and embarrass themselves. |
| Which rich person is moving to poor neighborhoods? Trump? Buffet? Obama? Musk? Bush? Oprah? |
| Which rich politician is sending their kids to public schools? |
Jaime Raskin did. |
This^. It's unacceptable to criticize crime. Since when terrorizing neighborhoods became a cultural thing? |
Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho are full of very conservative people who are livid over the gentrification happening in their neighborhoods as we speak. Marjorie Taylor Greene proposed a national “cooling off” period in which people moving from blue to red states would have their voting rights suspended to combat this “issue.” |
NP. How does that prevent gentrification? Isn’t the only correct answer to sell your home back to the POC you displaced for the original price they paid? Or to another for that low price? Frequenting local stores is great in preserving any neighborhood, anywhere. |
Somehow, I highly doubt the OP was referring to white people being displaced. That’s not “real” gentrification, dontcha know. /s |
This supposes that every neighborhood was ever full of POCs. That just wasn't the case in large sections of DC. And even in some of the sections where that may have been true between 1950 and 1980, it wasn't true before or since. Demographic change happens. I'm not thrilled that when my neighborhood school boundary changed, the following few years were full of families with older kids moving out and childless doggie "parents" moving in, but demographic change is totally normal. |
| Moving in and raising test scores overnight. |
Ewww. Do you think inner city neighborhoods are racially heterogenous? Do you think gentrification only happens in minority neighborhoods? |
|
If OP had wanted to "prevent gentrification" then OP should presumably have not moved to DC.
Also this has to be a troll post, right? |
Yeah and I suppose we also need to not pay any attention to developments catering to upper middle class blacks in PG county et cetera as well. "Pay attention to THIS gentrification, not THAT gentrification." |
