They spent it all on virtual learning.

There is no virtual learning program this year. Try again.

No sh*t, Sherlock.
They spent money on it in the past. And now, that money is gone.

We got one time funding from the fed govt for covid. part of it went to the VLP. It was a one time payment, not something that could have been used to fund raises that last year after year.

It could have been used more wisely, so that money would be there for raises. It was not. Own it.

Were they allowed to use Covid funds for raises? Many districts had trouble spending all of it due to the requirements

Most CARES/ESSER funding was directly tied to “classroom achievement” or a similar vague concept so the list of things to which it’s applicable is limited and frankly puzzling.

Can you give an example or are you just wrong and digging in?

They cannot afford to life close to Arlington, and so they are way more incentivized to work where they can live. For the same salary, they can buy a house and have a quick commute. Staying with APS means continuing to rent a condo or commuting 45+ min. (And if they have kids, it means having a different schedule than their kid!)

How can we solve this problem?! We pay these crazy high taxes and property values in part because of the schools. If APS can’t retain quality, experienced teachers… what are we doing?

Stop driving up property values.
