| Someone should sue to stop the city from imposing on feee speech by putting taxation without representation on license plates. The government doesn’t speak for me even if I agree with the sentiment. |
And why the hell would Schumer call a vote? I get that there are those of you who enjoy colonial theater, but you should be very clear that this pointless charade takes precious time away from the House actually taking constructive steps to solve the country’s problems and therefore hurts you and everyone else in America. |
All you have to do is ask and they'll give you generic plates at no cost: https://dmv.dc.gov/service/end-taxation-without-representation-tags |
Honestly what Comintern are you getting your talking points from — “colonial theatre”? You sad demagogue. |
|
And how about DC Council does some actual work in lieu of performative theatre for the residents like health care, clean streets, safe housing, no crime, no ATVs, no loudspeakers on every corner, no corruption in the DC agencies, government and council?

Frumin’s statement on this is telling — it’s all about the Council sticking it to the man and nothing about the people of DC. Needless to say, he’s lost my vote and I think Council are behaving like dangerously spoiled brats out for themselves. I don’t like this Congress any more than the next guy, but I’m grateful that they’re saving us from the Nadeau and Allen fever dreams.
I spent the first week of February defending our local democracy from Congressional interference. While the Republican-led House of Representatives is attempting to overturn DC legislation, the Council has said with a unified voice that Congress must keep its hands off DC. |

Also, I had respect for Norton, but am very disappointed with her reductionist statement. DC people are simply aghast underwritten and bad legislative drafts presented as a done deal and not some sort of racist move against DC. Both pieces are sponsored by white members of the council. So this is really reductionist and just counterproductive. Honestly, time to retire.
DC voters of all colors don’t want bad legislation. We want no crime, good schools, safe housing and streets without noise and trash pollution. We want our existing laws enforced and some respect from the elected officials for the people. Here’s what she said: I can only conclude that the Republican leadership believes that D.C. residents, a majority of whom are Black and Brown, are either unworthy or incapable of governing themselves |

How bout you improve the DC living standards plagued by crime, ATVs, illegal activity and frankly DC government corruption, and let us defend the democracy, Frumin?
Who are you defending the democracy from, other democratic representatives of the people, Mayor, DoJ? Everyone told you the legislation was bad. There were some good provisions but they will not be lost as the result of your incredible ignorance in legislative writing and arrogance in ramming things down people’s throats. |
| Now be lost |
| Put the legislation x 2 on the ballot. Let the people decide. That’s only fair. |
If you are favor of colonialism when the outcome aligns with their policy priors, then you do not believe in the principle of representative democracy. |
Colonialism. Oh you poor sad brainwashed warped loser |
DC's living standards are pretty high, actually. Most of the crime and ATVs come from residents of other places, I mean how many arrests and time in court are the 1/6 insurrectionists taking up? |
