It would take an act of Congress. |
Right, all very important to remember. And exactly why a strong response is now required. |
The current US/NATO force would have zero issue dealing with what remains of Russia's conventional army. This would be an NFL vs. Pop Warner type mismatch. |
This isn’t a partisan thing — I don’t care whether you’re a democrat or republican, all of us here in America have our own loved ones that WE must keep safe. Enough with this recklessness on all sides — where is our Secretary of State, isn’t this what diplomats are paid for, to engage in diplomacy and WORK day and night to avoid escalating this localized border war into a global conflagration? And please stop with the simplistic comparisons to WW2 which was 80 years ago. Germany and Japan didn’t have enough nuclear weapons to destroy all life on Earth and if they DID, don’t you think trying to peacefully resolve thr underlying issues would have been the ONLY plausible option? We are living in 2022 here and now - not in some historical heroic fantasy in your head. How many millions of dead bodies are worth ensuring this or that province is ruled by corrupt politicians in Kiev and not corrupt politicians in Moscow? Are you willing to throw your own children on the global funeral pyre? Sheesh! Wake up people! |
Ignore Putin’s simp. |
Thank you comrade. The “we” and “our” are always the giveaway when dealing with dollar store propagandists. |
No one will be drafted because a NATO vs Russia war will quickly escalate to nuclear weapons and we will all be dead. And those that survive will envy the dead. Why do countries have nuclear war? This board is full of people spouting “Putin is evil” and “Putin is hitler” rhetoric … um, if you believe that maybe DON’T let us blithely walk into war against him? Or let me put it this way for the people who can’t seem to snap out of their WW2 fantasies … If Hitler had access to thousands of thermonuclear weapons as he was surrounded and facing imminent defeat in his bunker in Berlin in 1945, what do you think he would have done? Why risk this insanity? |
| *localized border war* is a classic! |
Doesn't matter if there are nukes involved. Basically, your strategy is to give in to blackmailers because you are afraid. I get you are afraid. My brother was in the military during the Gulf War #1, and I was glued to the news, fearful that he would be called up. But, we also cannot let a despot hold the world hostage to his ego and warmongering. If you ignore these despots and give in to them, there is no end. |
ok so if Putin wants to take over the US I guess we should let him or else he'll nuke the US and we'd be dead. Better to live under Putin's regime than be dead, right? |
And if you don’t , your opinion is of no consequence at all. |
If it’s that important push your kid to join the army. Otherwise you’re just talking out your butt. |
If they've been waiting for it, it wouldn't be beyond them to arrange it. Or to say that something that isn't a Russian rocket, is. There's enough of Russian-made weapons in Ukraine. And, thanks to the Western largesse, there's now tons of "destination Ukraine" small weapons in Norway, Finland and Sweden. Welcome to the gun-saturated reality. |
| It is really telling that Russia waited for the GOP to get the House before doing this. |
so, you are saying that if Putin wants to take over the US you'd just let him cause you don't want your kids to possibly die? Yes? |
